In 2017, Lions Club International (ILC) expanded its community service projects to include joining the effort to stamp out childhood cancer. To support this and other charitable efforts, the Aquia Harbour Host Lions Club established the Aquia Lions Charity Inc. and IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) not for profit charity. The Aquia Lions Charity Inc allows the club to raise tax deductible contributions and because we have no administrative fees, 100% of the money raised goes directly to the charities we support. The Aquia Lions Charity, in our inaugural year, accept the LCI challenge to fight childhood cancer and embraces three specific areas that include: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Massey Cancer Center, and five local pediatric cancer organizations.
